What is Kids in Space?Kids in Space is a European Project Semester, organised by AP Hogeschool Antwerpen, and supported by the UGhent Observatory of Armand Pien. More information can be found on the stakeholders page.
A multidisciplinary team of six students worked on an educational tool in the spring semester of 2019, to be used by primary school teachers to enhance the understanding and the motivation for STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in children from 8 to 12 years old. The tool consists of a teacher's coursebook, an application and a teacher's manual. More information on these elements can be found on the educational tools page. |
Our visionAs society becomes more and more digital, and technology becomes an ever growing part of our daily lives, education should follow and prepare children for a high-tech future. As several groups, both governments and private organisations, have predicted the creation of manned moonbases in the near future, it is vital to prepare and motivate these future astronauts from an early age.
The 'kids in space' project is aimed to support primary school teachers in fulfilling this ambition in their classrooms using an immersive storyline. |
